Synesthesia

I have lexical gustatory synesthesia, which causes me to experience tastes/textures when reading or hearing names.

The names and associations are consistent over time. For example, William is always oatmeal. Some names don’t have foods or the foods are harder to identify while with others the association is very clear. Names bring up separate tastes and textures that when combined don’t always match a real existing food or they match several. Certain phonemes consistently elicit the same flavors. This series is a sort of “synesthetic dictionary” and a way of mapping the connections between phonemes and their corresponding foods.
